Artificial Intelligence is seeing its applications growing exponentially at the moment.
As the software becomes more advanced, users have been getting AI chatbots to help them complete all sorts of tasks, from passing exams to learning languages.
ChatGPT is one of the most prevalent AI chatbot services and is becoming so popular that the site can occasionally be found unavailable.
But, as the cost-of-living crisis continues, is there a way the AI chat service can help save money?
As such, Metro.co.uk asked some money-saving experts for top tips on how to save cash using ChatGPT and got back some unusual ideas.
… and then we got ChatGPT’s thoughts on the subject, for good measure.
Searching for cheap flights
While writing emails or drafting text is all very well and good, ChatGPT has some much less apparent uses you might have yet to consider.
The AI chatbot can also help you save money on your upcoming travel plans.
Deepak Tailor, the founder of freebie hub LatestFreeStuff.co.uk, told Metro.co.uk, ‘We’ve been using ChatGPT to search for cheap flights and search for cheap breaks away.’
‘I’ve searched for ideas like “Where can I fly to from London for under £30 in April?”‘
Looking for cheaper alternative products
With inflation still running high, looking for cheaper alternatives to popular products and services has become very popular.
ChatGPT can also help with this by looking at your requests and suggesting more cost-effective alternatives for everything from energy companies to groceries.
Stuart, the owner and founder of financial planners Sunny Avenue, told Metro.co.uk, ‘Chat GPT is great. Not only does it have an answer for everything but you can get really specific with it.
‘If you’re looking to save money, you can input prompts ranging from “Can you advise ways I can save on my energy bills” to “Can you suggest a cheaper alternative to avocados and Netflix”.
‘Having said that, what it does lack is empathy and the ability to offer genuine advice on things like your tax circumstances. I believe there will be a place for human advice for the complex issues, regardless of how AI improves.’
Finding activities to do with kids
As a parent, you might not immediately think of AI as being able to help you save money.
Not so! Your time is extremely valuable, and by using services like ChatGPT to help advise you on activities to do with your children or to help with meal planning, you can free up a lot more time either for work or to spend with the family.
Alina Veselaya, a professional in ChatGPT usage, told Metro.co.uk, ‘Parents can ask ChatGPT for fun activities to do with their children.
‘One of the most popular use cases is easy and on-budget meal planning and grocery shopping, listed by the typical aisle layout or website structure if ordering online.
‘This might seem like little but making it into a weekly plan frees up your headspace.’
‘Time is money, and ChatGPT – accessible to all – can offer a real productivity boost for any role. Delegate some of your routine tasks and dedicate hours of your life to what truly matters.’
Sorting out your finances
If you’re looking to improve your financial situation, then AI can help.
Sarah Connelly, a finance expert at Cashfloat, told Metro.co.uk, ‘ChatGPT’s AI bots can provide you with advice on how to save money and manage your finances. This will also help you make more informed decisions and save money in the long run.’
Sarah goes on to say that the AI service ‘can help you set financial goals and track your progress towards reaching them. This will help you stay motivated and on track with your savings.’
Finally, Sarah also believes AI can help you plan for the future and make the most of any savings you have by investing, saying, ‘ChatGPT can help you invest your money and create a diversified portfolio.
‘This will help you earn more money in the long-term helping you reach your financial goals.’
