Vodafone’s mobile network has experienced a major outage, leaving thousands of Britons without service.
The network appeared to crash at around 6:20am this morning, with the issues affecting users across the UK.
So far, more than 3,000 issues have been logged on Down Detector.
56 per cent of those who reported issues said they were struggling to access their mobile internet, while 36 per cent said the problem was with their mobile phone.
The remaining five per cent reported an issue with their landline internet.
Down Detector reports network outages across the UK from various sources, including social media and user-submitted reports.
A heat map of affected areas shows outages in a variety of major UK cities, including London, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow.
A Vodafone spokesperson told Metro: ‘We are aware some customers are experiencing intermittent issues using our network. We’re sorry for the inconvenience, our team is working hard to fix the issue and we hope to have it resolved quickly.’
Customers have responded to the outage by sending Vodafone a large number of complaints on Twitter, asking them to explain the situation or provide a timeframe for when the network will be back online.
However, the company is still yet to provide any concrete answers, responding to complaints with largely the same message, apologising for the problem and asking customers to contact them directly.
Meanwhile, mobile network Giffgaff is also reporting major outages throughout the country.
Customers in London have reported having no signal whatsoever since January 5, with similar problems also reported in Nottingham.
The outages are believed to be the result of masts in city centres becoming overloaded with traffic.
A Giffgaff spokesperson told a disgruntled customer commenting on Down Detector: ‘The issues being faced in the city centre may be due to busy masts in the area.
‘We’re unsure why you’re currently disconnected, but would recommend reaching out to our agents for help with resolving the service issues you’ve been facing.’
